WawaJVCo, Inc. is a joint venture of Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc. and the San Lorenzo Ruiz Builders and Developers Group. It is developing the Wawa Bulk Water Supply Project, an infrastructure flagship project of the Philippine government.
The Wawa Bulk Water Supply Project will address the growing concern for water scarcity and minimize the risk of flooding in the capital region and nearby province of Rizal. It will be the biggest water source built since 1967 and will supply at least 518 million liters per day, increasing Manila Water Company’s water capacity by over 30 percent.
The project involves the construction of two water supply infrastructures. Its first phase or the Tayabasan Weir started commercial operations in October 2022. The milestone demonstrated Prime Infra’s strong track record in delivering critical infrastructure projects in challenging situations as Phase 1 was constructed and finished in the middle of a pandemic, ahead of schedule.
WawaJVCo was able to fast-track Phase 1 completion because it was able to establish close relations with local stakeholders, highlighting the company’s adherence to social and environmental sustainability.
Construction for the second phase or the Upper Wawa Dam is ongoing and targeted to be completed by 2025.
December 27, 2023: The Upper Wawa Dam, the second phase of the Wawa Bulk Water Supply Project, is making significant construction progress and is on track to begin commercial operations by end 2025.
September 20, 2023: Another milestone for the Wawa Bulk Water Supply Project was crossed following the breakthrough of a 1-kilometer tunnel for the pumping station capable of delivering 518MLD of raw water.
April 20, 2023: In partnership with the Rizal provincial government, WawaJVCo Inc. continues to support its host communities through Corporate Social Responsibility projects that respond to the needs of key stakeholders.
