Razon-led Prime Infrastructure Capital, Inc. (Prime Infra), through its unit WawaJVCo, Inc., was hailed “Best Infrastructure Project Plant Developer” in this year’s prestigious International Finance Awards.
Already on its 10th year, the International Finance Awards “recognizes industry talent, leadership skills, industry net worth, and capability on an international platform.” It is organized by the International Finance publication based in the UK.
“This recognition is a testament to Prime Infra’s commitment and strong reputation in building critical and socially-relevant infrastructure. We thank our project partners and our community stakeholders for their continued trust as we progress further in the construction of this much needed water supply project,” said Prime Infra President and CEO Guillaume Lucci.
WawaJVCo, a joint venture of Prime Infra and San Lorenzo Ruiz Builders and Developers Group, Inc., is developing the Wawa Bulk Water Supply Project which aims to ensure water security by providing ample supply to Metro Manila and the province of Rizal. It involves the construction of two water supply infrastructures that will deliver at least 518 million liters per day (MLD) to offtaker Manila Water Company and Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System.
In June 2022, WawaJVCo marked a project milestone when it completed the first phase called Tayabasan Weir, a 25-meter high roller compacted concrete structure that will deliver the initial 80 MLD. The Tayabasan Weir was completed early, ahead of its October schedule. Phase 2 or the Upper Wawa Dam will be completed in 2025.
“We are proud of our WawaJVCo team for achieving this feat. This award affirms our core values of pioneering and tenacity, and reflects our commitment to strengthen the country’s water supply infrastructure and deliver this project on time. This will serve as an inspiration to all of us going forward,” said WawaJVCo President Melvin John Tan.
