Manila, Philippines – Last December 2021, Manila Water Company (MWC), deployed close to Php3M worth of assistance and relief goods to various typhoon-stricken areas in Visayas and parts of Mindanao, due to typhoon Odette.
In total, 3,600 5-gallon bottles of water and 237 boxes of hygiene kits were distributed to approximately 27,000 individuals in Cebu, Bohol, Southern Leyte, Siargao, Dinagat Islands and Surigao City. In addition, three Mobile Treatment Plants (MTP) and six Water Tankers were deployed in affected areas in Cebu, Bohol and Siargao to provide treated and potable drinking water to over 135,000 beneficiaries.
For January this year, MWC will continue to provide support to severely-affected communities by sending out additional relief support of 100 5-gallon bottled water and 75 cases of hygiene products to Palawan.
“MWC is pleased to pitch in and provide aid to people who were adversely affected by typhoon Odette,” said MWC Chief Operating Officer, Melvin John Tan.
MWC relief efforts was possible with the support of their various partners like the Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, the Energy Development Corporation (EDC), ABS-CBN Foundation, Shopee Xpress, P&G Philippines, Lalamove, the Philippine Coast Guard and the local government units.
