Prime Integrated Waste Solutions (PWS), a subsidiary of Prime Infra, has launched a key resource recovery initiative involving the collection and diversion of post-consumer plastic bottles.

PWS’ materials recovery facility (MRF) in Cebu recently completed its first delivery of 6.2 tons of baled PET bottles to the largest bottle-to-bottle recycling facility in the Philippines operated by PETValue Philippines Corp.

“Resource recovery is a key pillar in our sustainable waste management strategy,” said Cara Peralta, Market Sector Lead for Waste at Prime Infra. “By efficiently reclaiming PET bottles, we not only reduce waste but also create measurable environmental value that supports our broader sustainability goals.”

PWS is targeting a steady increase in the volume of PET bottles delivered to PETValue, with plans to replicate this initiative at its Pampanga facility.

PETValue is the Philippines’ largest bottle-to-bottle recycling facility, established through a joint initiative by Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. and Indorama Ventures. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies to ensure the safest and most advanced recycling process for PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles, commonly used for packaging drinks like water, soda, and juice, as well as other food products.

Further to its sustainability commitment, PWS is also helping businesses reduce their plastic footprint through the generation and sale verified plastic credits. This reinforces its leadership in supporting sustainable practices by offering a measurable way to offset plastic use and reduce landfilled waste.

“Whether through diverting plastic bottles from the waste stream or enabling plastic credit offsets, our focus remains the same: maximizing the value of recovered materials and helping our partners meet their sustainability goals,” Peralta said.
